January 9, 1986: made his ODI debut v New Zealand at Melbourne, did not bat, but bowled 2 overs claiming 1-13 (his first victim: Jeremy Coney)

January 12, 1986: He scored 40 and claimed 2-46 in 10 overs against India at Brisbane in his second match.

January 16, 1986: His maiden fifty - an unbeaten 73 - came against India at Melbourne

January 26, 1986: His 81 against India at Adelaide was then his highest score

January 2, 1987: His 82 against Pakistan at Perth was then his highest score. In the same match he also took 4-48 in 9.5 overs - which was his first four-wicket haul of his career.

January 26, 1987: His unbeaten 83 against England at Adelaide was then his highest score

January 19, 1988: His 4-33 in 10 overs against Sri Lanka at Sydney has remained his best figures in ODIs.

December 12, 1988: He scored 54 and claimed 3-57 in the same match against the West Indies at Melbourne.

February 20, 1994: His 86 against South Africa at Centurion was then his highest score

January 1, 1996: His maiden 100 - an unbeaten 102 against Sri Lanka at Melbourne. It took him 187 matches to record his maiden ODI hundred.

April 13, 1997: He captained Australia in an ODI match for the first time replacing another part time captain Ian Healy - against South Africa at Bloemfontein. His team lost the match by 109 runs.

December 4, 1997: Captained Australia officially for the first time (then his third as captain) against South Africa at Sydney. His team lost the match by 67 runs.

January 27, 1998: His team won the C&U finals against South Africa - his first ever tournament win as captain.

April 14, 1998: Led his team to victory in the final of the Pepsi Cup - against India at Delhi.

June 13, 1999: His unbeaten 120 against South Africa at Leeds in the 1999 World Cup - his highest ever score in ODIs.

June 20, 1999: Led Australia to victory in the 1999 World Cup. His team routed Pakistan by 8 wickets and by 179 balls to spare in the final at Lord's.

February 4, 2000: His team won the C&U finals against Pakistan

February 9, 2001: His team won the C&U finals against West Indies

April 6, 2001: He led his team to win the bilateral series in India 3-2. Australia thus became the first visiting team since 1987-88 to win a one-day series in India.

June 23, 2001: His team won the Natwest Trophy final against Pakistan

February 3, 2002: Led his team to victory perhaps in his last ODI match for Australia - at Perth against South Africa. Despite this win his team could not qualify for the VB series final.
