Rizwan Shamshad's ton gives UP the lead December 11, 2005 22:07 IST Hosts Uttar Pradesh took the vital first innings lead over Services on the penultimate day of the Elite Ranji Trophy Group 'B' match in Lucknow on Sunday. Resuming on their overnight score of 106 for two, India batsman Suresh Raina departed at his overnight score of 51 on the first ball he faced today. But veteran Rizwan Shamshad scored a brilliant century (110) to put the hosts on top. - Ranji Trophy 2005-06: Complete coverage He was ably supported by Ravikant (65), former India player Gyanendra Pandey (69 not out) and tailender A W Zaidi (52 not out), who all smashed the rival bowlers all around the ground, to give UP a lead of 109 runs with one wicket in hand. At the close of the third day's play, UP were 430 for the loss of nine wickets. Gyanendra and Zaidi contributed an unbeaten 96-runs stand. Zaidi smashed nine boundaries, while Gyanendra hit six boundaries and a six.
