Gavaskar misses ton for Bengal December 18, 2005 19:57 IST An unbroken 102 run partnership between opening batsman Bharath Chipli (68) and Barrington Rownald (29) for the second wicket enabled hosts Karnataka to post 117 for one after dismissing Bengal for 335 all out in the first innings of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match played at Infosys ground in Mysore on Sunday. Earlier, the visitors could add only 127 to their overnight score of 208 for three. Rohan Gavaskar (96), who seemed well settled yesterday, missed his century by four runs when he was brilliantly caught by wicket keeper Tilak Naidu off Sunil Joshi. Spinners Udit Patil claimed four wickets conceding 103 runs, his second four-wicket haul in Ranji. He was well supported by left arm spinner Sunil B Joshi who claimed three wickets by conceding 69 runs. Vinay Kumar, D Ganesh and B Akhil were the other wicket takers for the hosts.
