Mumbai take first innings points December 20, 2005 20:56 IST Mumbai spinners Nilesh Kulkarni and Ramesh Powar bowled well in tandem to restrict the Railways' first innings to 332, in reply to their first innings score of 367 and thus gained a vital 35-run first innings' lead in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match, which ended in a tame draw at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. Mumbai were 132 for four in their second innings when the match was called-off, with Amol Muzumdar (51) and Wilkin Mota (15) at the crease. Defending champions Railways, resuming at their overnight score of 269 for seven, saw S Khanolkar keep them in the match with a valiant 46, before he was caught and bowled by Ramesh Powar. The other tail-enders also chipped in with useful runs but in the end fell short as Powar grabbed four wickets and Nilesh Kulkarni got three. Medium pacer Swapnil Hazare was the other successful bowler, claiming two wickets. The Mumbai batsmen then used the rest of the game for some batting practice.
