Karnataka 255 for seven on opening day December 25, 2005 23:57 IST Karnataka posted a modest total of 255 for the loss of seven wickets on the opening day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group 'A' match against Maharashtra at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Sunday. - Ranji Trophy 2005-06: Complete coverage Electing to bat, Karnataka scored 255, following a 118-run partnership for the second wicket between Robin Uthappa (96) and Barrington Rowland (46). Karnataka, who are under pressure to earn an outright win against Maharashtra, seemed to be in trouble at that stage. After the exit of opener Bharat Chipli (27), who was bowled by Munaf Patel at the team total of 45, Barrington joined Uthappa and managed to push the score to 163. The fall of Barrington, who chipped in with a valuable knock of 46 (4x4s), was the beginning of the collapse of the Karnataka batting line-up. Skipper Sujit Somasundar scored 31 (2x4s) before his stumps were uprooted by Suyash Burkal. C Raghu on 11 and R Vinay Kumar on one were at the crease when stumps were drawn for the day.
