Hyderabad trounced Services by an innings and 138 runs with a day to spare to notch up full five points in the Elite Group 'B' Ranji Trophy match at Gymkhana Grounds in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

The win took the tally of the hosts, who had compiled 415 in their first innings, to nine points.

The resounding victory was set up by a fine bowling spell by Kaushik Reddy who claimed six wickets after Anirudh Singh (95) and D Vinay Kumar (90) impressed with the bat.

In reply, the visitors were bowled out for 196 in their first essay and for 81 in the second.

Resuming at 278 for 6, Hyderabad piled up 415 runs with Vinay Kumar cracking a brilliant 90 with one six and seven hits to the fence while NP Singh hit a quick fire 42, helping their side take a massive first innings lead of 219.

Services, who made 196 in the first innings, started the second innings with a big deficit. Hyderabad bowlers Kaushik Reddy and Inder Sekhar Reddy troubled the batsmen often and picked wickets with ease.

Kaushik opened the floodgates dismissing opener Smugt Tomar (13) when he edged it to wicketkeeper Ibarahim Kaleel.

Enthused by the presence of VVS Laxman, Hyderabad players were at their best on the field with Kaushik and Reddy making most of the massive first innings lead.

It took just 31.1 overs for the Services men to march back to the pavilion for 81 to give hosts a big margin of victory.

Kaushik accounted for Krishna Chawdsa (22), Yashpal Singh (15), Javir Singh (10), A K Mohanty (6) and Fazil Mohamed (0) to finish with impressive figures of six for 31 while IS Reddy claimed three wickets and NP Singh took the other wicket to give hosts a thumping victory.

This is the first victory for Hyderabad and the first match Laxman has played in domestic cricket in the season and aggregated nine points with two more matches to go.
