England colts lose by an innings

February 04, 2005 21:14 IST

The Indian colts won the three-match 'Test' series against their England Under-19 counterparts 3-0 after thrashing the visitors by an innings and 137 runs on the penultimate day of the concluding four-day match of the series at the Keenan stadium in Jamshedpur on Friday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 189 for four, the English boys were all out for 258 in reply to India's first innings of 472 for four declared.

After being forced to follow-on and conceding a deficit of 214 runs, the England boys collapsed like a deck of cards and were all out for a paltry 77 runs.

Leg spinner Shahbaz Nadeem was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming match figures of 10 for 131. He scalped four wickets for 108 runs in the first innings and 6 for 23 runs in the second.

On Thursday, opener Chiteshwar Pujara scored a fine 211 before the Indian colts declared their innings.
