Pakistan won't play in Ahmedabad

Pakistan expressed its "inability" to play at Ahmedabad, one of the venues proposed to host a cricket Test between the arch-rivals next month.

In a letter to the BCCI, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Saturday it had reservations over playing at Ahmedabad, highly-placed sources said.

"The matter has been taken up with Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal," sources told PTI.

Top BCCI officials are in touch with the Home Ministry which is yet to take a decision on the matter.

Sources said BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla met Home Minister Patil and discussed the matter with him.

PCB's letter to the Indian Cricket Board came a day after the two-member Pakistani security assessment team, which toured India last week for an on-the-spot inspection of cricket venues, submitted its report.

The report was drafted by PCB official Zakir Khan and senior Pakistan police official Sohail Khan, both of whom toured India to finalise the venues for three Tests and five one-day internationals during the tour.

The BCCI is expected to decide on the venues by February 16.
