John Gloster may replace Leipus

Ashish Magotra | January 25, 2005 17:05 IST

John Gloster is likely to replace Andrew Leipus as physiotherapist of the Indian cricket team.

The former Bangladesh physio will be with the team five months, when Leipus goes to Adelaide, Australia, to update himself on the latest advances in physiotherapy.

It is learnt that the Board of Control for Cricket in India acceded to Leipus's recommendation to appoint Gloster, though only on a short-term basis.

It has asked the 34-year-old Leipus, who began his stint with Indian cricket in 1999 and signed off after the tour of Bangladesh in December, to return after he completes his course or interact with the team by correspondence.

BCCI secretary S K Nair refused to confirm the appointment, saying an announcement will be made in the next few days.
