Leipus suggests long term programmes for physios

July 21, 2005 11:28 IST

India need to introduce long term domestic training programmes for physios, according to former Indian team physio Andrew Leipus.

"Only through this long-term programme can India have a pool of physios of international standard," Leipus said in Kolkata.

Leipus said he was now keen to finalise the three training courses he has designed for physios at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

"I am trying to fit in my programme in the NCA fixture," Leipus said.

Leipus, who met former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya during the day, left for Bangalore en route to Australia.

Leipus, who quit as team India physio to pursue further studies in his subject, described his meeting with Dalmiya as a courtesy call.

"When I came here I coordinated with him. So I thought I should pay him a visit before returning to Australia," he said.

Leipus said he also discussed his future plans at the NCA with Dalmiya.
