India retain team for 2nd Test

Ashish Magotra in Mohali | March 11, 2005 19:19 IST

The 14-man squad playing in the ongoing first Test in Mohali has been retained for the second Test against Pakistan in Kolkata, starting on March 16.

The Indian selectors met in Mohali under the chairmanship of Kiran More at the end of the fourth day's play in the first Test and decided against making any changes to the team.

Mohammed Kaif, who led Central Zone to the Duleep Trophy title with an unbeaten 48 in a low-scoring final, was again overlooked by the selectors.

At the end of day four, Pakistan were reeling at 257 for six, only 53 runs ahead of India.

India: Sourav Ganguly (captain), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman, Dinesh Karthik (wicketkeeper), Irfan Pathan, Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, Ashish Nehra, Laxmipathy Balaji.
