Chief of national cricket selection committee Kiran More said on Friday he was in favour of appointing a bowling coach to the Indian squad in addition to the main coach for which efforts are on.

"I feel that the Indian bowlers, especially the young new-ball bowlers like Irfan Pathan and (Lakshmipathy) Balaji would benefit significantly if there's a bowling coach to advise them," More said.

"We have had discussions on the issue, including John Wright (who has since then quit as national coach) and we are all in favour of it," added More.

The Indian team had experimented with a bowling coach when it toured Australia in the 2003-04 season.

Former Australian left arm pace bowler Bruce Reid was the bowling coach of the team during the four-Test series which was drawn after India had taken a 1-0 lead in the second Test at Adelaide.

Asked whether he would suggest his idea to the Indian board, More said, "Yes, I have this in mind to suggest to the board (BCCI)."

The BCCI is in the process of appointing the new national coach in the wake of the departure of Wright from the scene after a stint of 4 and a half years.

The board has announced that it would interview four candidates - Australians Greg Chappell and Tom Moody, India's Mohinder Amarnath and West Indian Desmond Haynes - in Delhi on May 19 before taking a decision on the matter.
