Aimed at providing exposure to the India U-19 squad ahead of next year's World Cup, the BCCI is likely to host an Asian cricket tournament towards the end of this year.

The event, proposed to be held in November/December, would see under-19 teams from Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh besides hosts India in action.

Disclosing this BCCI Joint Secretary Gautam Dasgupta said that the tournament would provide an opportunity to India as also the other Asian sides to gauge their preparation levels before the U-19 World Cup, to be held early next year either in Colombo or Kuala Lumpur.

The proposal to stage the tournament was mooted by BCCI and the Asian Cricket Council, which would conduct the meet, has given its nod.

"The ACC has now requested us to host the tournament and we are looking for a suitable venue," he said.

According to the BCCI official, for security reasons, the tournament would have to be staged in a city which had two enclosed stadia.

"Two stadia are needed as two matches have to be played simultaneously," he said.

At present, cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam had two stadia and were in the running for holding the meet, he added.
