Pakistan pace bowler Shabbir Ahmed is likely to play in next month's second Test against West Indies in Jamaica despite his bowling action being reported for a third time by match officials.

The 29-year-old was reported by supervising umpires David Shepherd and Darrell Hair and match referee Ranjan Madugalle after the first Test in Barbados that ended on Sunday with an emphatic 276-run win for the home side.

Pakistan manager Saleem Altaf said on Monday that Shabbir would be considered for the second Test and is likely to play.

"I think he will be in because he can continue to play during the period his action again undergoes remedial measures," Altaf said.

Shabbir, who had match figures of five for 136 in Barbados, was previously reported for a suspect action after his first one-day international in Toronto in September 1999, and then in January 2004 following an ODI against New Zealand in Wellington.

Altaf said the Pakistan Board had received the International Cricket Council (ICC) match officials report and would start remedial measures on Shabbir's action immediately.

"We might also ask for the assistance of the ICC in our endeavour to correct his bowling action," he added.

Pakistan are not scheduled to play until October this year after the Jamaica Test starting from June 3.

Altaf also said that following the massive first Test defeat, the team management is trying to call up senior batsman Yousuf Youhana for the second Test.

Youhana returned home before the first Test to be with his ailing father in Lahore.

"We are trying but I can't confirm if he would be able to make it back in time for the match."
