Gambhir to lead Rest of India

India opener Gautam Gambhir will lead the Rest of India team against Ranji champions Railways in the season-opening Irani Trophy match, to be played in Delhi from October 1 to 5.

The team was picked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India's senior selection committee, which met in Bangalore on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Kiran More.

The team: Gautam Gambhir (captain), Dheeraj Jadhav, Shikar Dhawan, Robin Uthappa, Venugopal Rao (vice-captain), Suresh Raina, Neeraj Patel, Parthiv Patel (wicket-keeper), Ramesh Pawar, Ram Kumar, R P Singh, Sreesanth, Ranadeep Bose, Amit Bhandari and V R V Singh.
