Kaif's admirers up in arms

September 21, 2005 11:57 IST

Enraged over the non-inclusion of local hero Mohammad Kaif in the Test series against Zimbabwe, a number of his fans burnt an effigy of skipper Sourav Ganguly, who they blamed for the Allahabad player not making it to the final eleven.

Around 50 people gathered in front of Kaif's ancestral house on Tuesday evening, shouting slogans against Ganguly and the national selectors.

The demonstrators later burnt an effigy of Ganguly, alleging that he was prejudiced against Kaif, who was not considered for the Test team despite good performances in the preceding triangular one-day series also involving New Zealand.

Kaif was left out of the first Test of the series against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo last week and was also overlooked for the second Test, which began in Harare on Tuesday.
