The cricket associations of Rajasthan and Bihar and Netaji Criclcket Club of Chennai on Monday moved the Supreme Court against the Calcutta high court order staying the appointment of two former Chief Justices of India as observers to the BCCI elections, which have run into controversy.

The two associations and NCC filed separate appeals against the high court verdict on removal of Justice K N Singh and Justice M M Punchi, both former CJI as observers for the elections to the apex body of cricket in India and sought a direction for holding the elections before September 30.

During the mentioning hour, advocate Rayan Karanjiawala sought permission from a bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal, Justice C K Thakker and Justice S H Kapadia to file the Special Leave Petitions against the high court order which retained only Justice Suhas C Sen, former the judge of the apex court, as a sole observer for the BCCI elections.

The bench asked the counsel to mention the SLPs seeking to set aside the high court verdict for hearing on Tuesday.

The Division Bench of the high court on September 23 had stayed the order of the single bench two former CJIs as additional observers.

Regarding the time and schedule of election, the high court had said that Justice Sen would decide on it.
