Zaheer scalps three as Worcs gain lead

August 04, 2006 18:18 IST

Zaheer Khan again proved his worth as a strike bowler by picking up three wickets and helping Worcestershire gain a vital 120-run lead over Glamorgan in a four-day Division Two match of the County Championship.

Zaheer struck early to trap opening bat Mark Cosgrove for a duck and later removed Mike Powell (28) and Alex Wharf (86) at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club ground on Thursday.

owell was castled while Wharf was caught by Vikram Solanki off the bowling of the Indian pacer.

Glamorgan were all out for 340 in reply to Worcestershire's first innings total of 460.

Zaheer had contributed 13 runs in his side's first essay, in which Daryl Mitchell (134 not out) emerged as the top-scorer.
