Goel, Dharmani shine for Punjab December 17, 2006 22:02 IST A fine knock of 91 by Karan Goel, and Pankaj Dharmani's 71, helped Punjab garner 278 for five on the first day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite 'B' match against Maharashtra in Kolhapur on Sunday. Goel's knock was studded with 11 boundaries and one six, while Dharmani hit 10 fours, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji stadium before he retired hurt. Opener Ravneet Ricky also made notable contribution, scoring 56 off 114 balls, punctuated with eight boundaries and a six. Ricky and Goel gave a solid start to Punjab's innings, scoring 112 runs for the opening wicket. Bipul Sharma (16) and Ishan Malhotra (1) were at crease when stumps were drawn. For Maharashtra, Rohit Jadhav snared three wickets, giving away 72 runs, while Sairaj Bahutule pocketed 2 for 86.
