Andhra struggle against UP January 11, 2006 21:19 IST Andhra Pradesh stumbled to 155 for six in their first innings in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group-B match against Uttar Pradesh being held in Ananthpur on Wednesday. Replying to Uttar Pradesh's first innings total of 365 all out, Andhra started shakily, losing opener L Prasad Reddy on 21. They lost their second wicket at 53 when the experienced MSK Prasad handed a simple catch to Mohammed Kaif after making 19 runs off 69 balls. Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh, resuming their first innings at 217 for the loss of five wickets, were all out for 365 in 125.5 overs. A quick 85-run eighth-wicket partnership between Gyanendra Pandey (88, 253 balls, 8x4, 2x6) and Pradeep Kumar (78, 68 balls, 7x4, 4x6) in 18.2 overs helped the visitors consolidate their score in its first innings. Right arm medium pacer Kalyankrishna was the most successful Andhra bowler, taking five wickets for 105 runs, while Israel Raju claimed three and Shahabuddin scalped the remaining two.
