May 04, 2006 14:24 IST

Former Test middle-order batsman and national junior selection committee chairman Pravin Amre was on Wednesday appointed as the specialist batting coach of the Mumbai Ranji Trophy and under-22 squads.

"Karsan Ghavri continues as the overall coach but the Cricket Improvement Committee today decided to appoint Amre as the batting coach," said Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Lalchand Rajput.

"The committee retained the senior selection committee headed by Milind Rege besides retaining Abey Kuruvilla as the under-19 coach," he said.
