Tendulkar arrives in Chennai May 15, 2006 13:09 IST Sachin Tendulkar arrived in Chennai on Monday to train and practice at the MRF Pace Foundation before undergoing a fitness Test on May 20. Tendulkar, recuperating from a shoulder injury, will practice at the state-of-the-art academy from May 16 to 20 under the watchful eyes of trainer Ramji Srinivasan.
"It has produced many international pace bowlers for the country. They have the best of the facilities. I am really grateful to them for this gesture in allowing me for four days," Tendulkar said on his arrival. Asked how hopeful he is about making the squad for the West Indies series, the batting maestro said he would first like to see his progress here. "We will have to wait and see how the progress is after training here," he said. The Mumbai player had batting drills at the Mumbai Cricket Association ground in Bandra-Kurla Complex last week. He also tended to his shoulder following which team physio John Gloster and trainer Gregory King recommended him the stint under Srinivasan. Former India physio Andrew Leipus, who is looking after Tendulkar's recovery, is expected to reach Chennai by Tuesday. On India's chances of winning in the Caribbean, Tendulkar said they should be able to win the one-dayers. "Indian players are on the high now and they should be able to beat the West Indies in the one-day series," he said.
