Agarkar declared fit for SA ODIs

November 10, 2006 14:05 IST

Medium pacer Ajit Agarkar was on Friday declared fit for the upcoming one-day international series in South Africa after being put through a fitness test by team physio John Gloster.

"John Gloster took a fitness assessment of Ajit Agarkar at Bandra Kurla ground today on his left hand injury. He will be fit to participate in the upcoming series against South Africa," Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah said in a statement.

Agarkar suffered a fracture in his left thumb during the Champions Trophy match against the West Indies last month.

"He will continue to practice up till the time the team leaves on the 13th November, 2006," the statement added.

India leave for South Africa on November 13 and will play five one-dayers and three Test matches. They play their first ODI on November 19, at the Wanderers, Johannesburg.
