CA to address players' issues

February 29, 2008 18:28 IST

After the hullaballoo about the Australian players being unhappy with their board for not standing by their players -- Matthew Hayden [Images] being reprimanded on the Harbhajan issue being a case in point -- Cricket Australia officials seem to have pulled their socks up a bit.

According to reports, CA will hold a meeting with the country's top players to address their growing resentment with the board.

The Australian on Friday reported that a meeting pertaining to the same would be held after the ongoing Commonwealth Bank tri-series is over.

Peter Young, a CA spokesman, confirmed a meeting would take place, though he refused to elaborate on the timing of it.

He also played down the significance of the proposed meeting, saying it was just an apt time for players and officials to sit together and discuss the varied issues that have dogged Australian cricket this summer.

"We and the players are proposing to catch up soon after this series is finished. We think it is an appropriate time to reflect on where we are going," he said.
