GizmoWatch: A phone that dislikes the cold

We asked our readers to send in their review of the latest gadget in market. In response, GA reader, Rajendra Kumar, rates the Samsung X-600 cell phone on features and ease of use. Here's what he has to say:

I had purchased a Samsung X-600 mobile phone with rotating camera and flash a little while ago and at Rs 11,995, the phone is a huge disappointment.

During winters, the set does not work. When I say set does not work, I don't mean just the camera, I mean the whole handset does not work.

The display area flashes "Insert Sim", while the card is still inserted. And before you assume that I am a citizen of Siberia, let me inform you that I live in Dehradun where the night temperature in the winter is about 10 to 16 degrees celcius -- a temperature that does not warrant such phone malfunctions.

The disappointing performance of the set is exceeded only by the support, service and attitude of the company. My complaints to Samsung, at every level, from dealer to the company's country operations president yielded nothing.

I would think it a wiser choice to opt for a Nokia, Sony or Motorola instead.
