NSE-50 Index

Nifty dips by just 3.6 points

Pivotals moved in a narrow range and drifted lower at close as a dull sentiment prevailed in the National Stock Exchange today.

Reflecting the trend, the NSE-50 index declined by 3.6 points to 1122.95 points against the previous close of 1126.55 points.

The Dollar NSE-50 index also fell by 10.05 points to 950.15 as compared to 960.20 of last working day. However, the Midcap index firmed up by 13.30 points to 1653.65 points against the previous close of 1640.35 ponts.

The total turnover in 59.4 million shares in 193,943 trades was Rs 15.7 billion while 114 securities hit their price bands, 477 scrips improved, 549 declined, while 98 remained unchanged.

Hectic activity was witnessed in Satyam Comp with (all in rupees) 3.1 billion turnover, followed by ITC 3 billion, Reliance 1 billion, Pentsfware 1 billion, BPL 614.4 million, ACC 602.5 million, Zee Tele 597.1 million, Infosys Tech 416.1 million, Videocon Int 399.2 million, SBI-N 379.6 million, Sterlite 369.2 million, Tisco 308.5 and BFL Software 235 million.

The other actively traded scrips were (all in rupees) Nestle 222.3 million, Silverline 214.6 million, ICICI 201.8 million, Bajaj Auto 141.1 million, LML 139.4 million, Hind Lever 116.4 million, Castrol 116.2 million, L and T 115.4 million, Soft Solint 112.8 million, Digital Equip 106.7 million, NIIT 105.2 million and Telco 95.1 million.
