Nifty gains 11 points

Pivotals continued their rally and firmed up further on continued buying support by bull operators and institutional investors, despite today being the last day of the current settlement, at the National Stock Exchange.

Mirroring the uptrend, the S&P CNX Nifty opened a bit higher at 1230.30, shot up to a high of 1246.40, before closing at 1241.25, gaining 11 points over yesterday's close of 1230.25.

The CNX Nifty Junior rose by 27.10 points to 2025.95 from 1998.85 yesterday while the S&P CNX Defty appreciated by 8.35 points to 994.15.

The S&P CNX 500 moved up 9.45 points to 842.70 from 833.25 points and the CNX Midcap 200 advanced 10.35 points to 720.75.

While 651 securities advanced, 414 declined and 70 remained unchanged. Eighty-three scrips hit their price bands today.

The total turnover recorded, in 323,342 trades involving 100.983 million shares, was Rs 21.6423 billion. The value of debentures traded stood at Rs 3.683 million.
