Sensex gains 60 points, only to drop back to Monday's closing level of 4210

The Bombay Stock Exchange opened on a firm note on Tuesday morning as speculative and institutional support continued.

The 30-share benchmark index, the Sensex, gained some 60 points to whiz up to the 4240 level by 1245 hours IST from Monday's close.

However, selling trend set in on reports that the financial results of several companies are likely to be discouraging. By 1430 hours, the Sensex dropped back to Monday's closing level of 4210.
