Reliance to infuse Rs 5.25 billion in fibre optics

India's private sector Reliance Group said on Monday it will invest Rs 5.25 billion to lay a 3,000 km fibre optic network in Karnataka.

An official of Reliance Industries , the group's flagship firm, on Monday signed an agreement with the Karnataka state government, under which the group will also set up 7,500 computer information kiosks in the state.

A Karnataka state government official also announced that Reliance will invest Rs 16.15 billion in developing an information technology park in India's technology capital in Bangalore.

The proposed park will be built on an area of 70 acres of land and will include 4.25 million square feet of office space.
