US Technology Resources, a leader in providing end-to-end infotech services for Fortune 500 companies, is all set to expand its presence here by setting up its own state-of-the-art software development centre. The new centre will have a capacity to seat 12,000 information technology professionals.

In a bid to attain this goal, the company, a wholly owned subsidiary of US Technology Resources LLC, announced its new centre in Thiruvananthapuram on 36 acres of land on the Technopark campus here. The land has been allotted by the Kerala government and an agreement to this effect was inked by company top officials with state chief minister Oommen Chandy.

According to Murali Gopalan, senior vice-president, US Technology Resources, "the Thiruvananthapuram centre plans its own campus in Technopark as part of doubling its business." The company, which kick-started its operations in Thiruvananthapuram in 1999 with just 14 software professionals, now provides employment to 3,000-plus employees.

The company, he said, had become the largest software company in Kerala, in terms of sales turnover and employee strength in just six years. Sajan Pillai, president and COO, US Technology Resources, said that the company has plans to increase the size of its employees by ten times to 30,000, by year 2010.

US Technology Resources, according to top officials, puts into practice a proven 'hybrid' global sourcing and delivery model to provide information technology and business process outsourcing services through its state-of-the-art facilities. This model combines US-based, senior resources, with the cost, scale, and quality advantages of offshore operations, they added.

With Kerala becoming a force to reckon with in the country's IT/ITES scene, more and more software companies have set up shop in the state.

The state government also has rolled out a red carpet to infotech and ITES players, in an attempt to secure more employment opportunities to the skilled youth here.
