Direct tax collection jumps 38% November 01, 2006 15:58 IST Direct tax collection crossed Rs 91,000 crore (Rs 910 billion) registering a growth of 38.3 per cent year-on-year as against the budget target of 27.73 per cent. Direct tax collection was at Rs 91,374 crore (Rs 913.74 billion) till October 28 this fiscal as against Rs 66,069 crore (Rs 660. 69 billion) in the same period last fiscal, according to official figures released on Wednesday. Corporation Tax collection shot up 38 per cent, income tax by 24 per cent, banking cash transaction tax by 125.5 per cent, securities transaction tax by 96 per cent and fringe benefit tax by 23.5 per cent.
