New Maruti 800 model launched

In line with its tradition of fulfilling the customers' need and expectations, Maruti Udyog Limited on Saturday launched the 'New Maruti 800', at Bombay.

The New Maruti 800, while retaining the strengths of the existing Maruti 800, brings about improvements in the areas encompassing superior technology, safety, styling, and comfort, thereby making it the most contemporary car in the market.

Maruti Executive Director Jagdish Khattar said that the Maruti 800, which was built upon the strengths of Suzuki Motor Corporation, world leaders in small car segment, and launched in 1983, helped in increasing the market which had stagnated for over a decade, thus bringing in the concept of high quality, low cost, fuel-efficient cars to India.

After its launch in 1983, a full model change was implemented in 1986, and an upgradation was carried out in 1994. The company produced its 500,000th Maruti 800 in 1992, and the millionth in 1996.

Besides its outstanding success in the domestic market where it symbolises the automobile revolution, Maruti 800 has brought India on the international automobile map by exporting more than 90,000 cars of this model to over 50 countries around the world.

Over 75 per cent of export of Maruti 800 have been to advanced European markets. The total exports of all models of Maruti to date exceeds 157,000 vehicles.

The New Maruti 800 offers improved aesthetics, better ergonomics, contemporary interiors and exteriors, and enhanced safety and comfort, thus delivering more value for money to the customers, said Khattar.
