The two first got together in Gangs Of New York and then in the Oscar-nominated The Aviator. The Aviator has been nominated in as many as 11 categories, including Best Actor, Best Director and Best Film. The original is about the relationship between a gangster and an alcoholic doctor in post-Second World War Japan. But before they start that film, DiCaprio and Scorsese will shoot The Departed, which also features Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg. Photograph: Getty Images
