Muniyandi... has rural flavour
With lyrics penned by the prolific Vairamuthu, almost all the songs have a strong rural flavour, their intensity and tone varying only slightly. The stirring beats by Vidyasagar, however, lend energy to the tunes.

Kuselan's music has interesting tunes
Tuned by G V Prakash Kumar, with the lyrics penned by Vaali, Pa Vijay and others, it is interesting to see if Kuselan touts an aural fare on par with the rest of the movie's stature.

Watch Meravanige for it's freshness
Meravanige is an engaging romantic thriller. The film proves that director Mahesh Babu has a firm grip over the medium. Prajwal shines, but it is new comer Andrita Ray who looks bubbly and pretty on the screen.

Nee Tata Naa Birla is ordinary
Tata Birla is an ordinary fare. Ravichandran and Jaggesh combo fails to enliven the magic of earlier films. Director Magadi's weak script and Guru Kiran's ordinary music are the weak links. The glamour girls do not contribute anything to lift the film.

June 27, 2008
Victory is watchable
Victory is watchable because of its contemporary social theme. Director Ravi C Kumar wants to tell people to unite and fight for what is rightfully theirs. Nitin does a decent job, while Mamta looks glamorous.

Mizhikal Sakshi is melodramatic
Mizhikal Sakshi, the new Malayalam film by Asok R Nath starring Sukumari and Mohanlal has a heartrending story of a mother, whose son is wrongly accused of a crime. Upon execution, however, the film fails to rise above the mundane.

Old wine in new bottle
One Way Ticket, Prithviraj's new film directed by Bipin Prabhakar has nothing new to offer. The only bright spot is the guest appearance of Mammootty, who plays himself.

June 19, 2008
Watch Ready for Ram and Genelia
Ready is very much a stereotypical love story. The cute, lead pair Ram and Genelia makes the film watchable.

June 17, 2008
Uliyin Osai , only for Ilayaraja's fans
Coming from a maestro who's delivered classics in his times, the music for this historical romance falls a little flat. It's as though the musician in him had to push really hard for inspiration and the labour is obvious. While it sticks to the classical theme, there's nothing new here; no scintillating compositions, nothing to indicate that it takes place in the 10th century. Kudos for the Carnatic base, but where is vintage Ilaiyaraja?

June 13, 2008
Akasha Gange , a clean entertainer
Akasha Gange is a clean entertainer with rich visuals and classic melodious music by Deva. Director Dinesh Baboo's deft handling of a sensitive subject appeals largely to the family audience. Songs are catchy and melodious.

Dasavathaaram is spectacular
A mind-boggling effort from Kamal Hassan-Ravi Kumar duo. It is difficult to select the best of the ten roles that Kamal has essayed in this superbly crafted technical effort. Himesh Reshamiya's music is the only average fare in the film while technically and aesthetically the film stands up to the present international standards.

June 12, 2008

June 06, 2008
Bandhu Balaga is enjoyable
All major artists including Shivaraj Kumar have stolen the show in Bandhu Balaga, a neat family drama directed by Naganna. Hamsalekha is the real hero of this film with melodious music compositions and good background score.

Neene Neene is average
Neene Neene is just an average fare which has little interesting moments. Shivadhwaj's weak directorial abilities fail the film. Newcomer Aishwarya Nag proves she is a bundle of talents. Dhyan looks good. Musically the film rocks and photography is excellent.

June 02, 2008
Kalaippani has good thrills
Pasumpon Films' Tamil film Kalaippani (Morning Dew), directed by Rajesh Shelva, is the kind of venture that you'd think would be a sappy love fest. It's anything but that. It has got all the ingredients of a good thriller.

May 30, 2008
Indra : Only for Darshan fans
Darshan acts in dual roles for the first time in Indra directed by H.Vasu, who had earlier directed two of the actor's films. Indra is the remake of the Tamil film Arasu featuring Sharath Kumar. Vasu has not made any substantial changes in the script, but has just projected Darshan in doble role as brothers, while the Tamil original had Sharath Kumar as father and son.

May 23, 2008
Bujjigadu offers nothing new
Bujjigadu, Made in Chennai is routine formula fare with some slick treatment by Puri Jagannath. Prabhas and Trisha make a good convincing pair.

May 22, 2008
Bujjigadu offers nothing new
Director Puri Jagannnath spins a routine yarn in the Telugu film, Bujjigadu, Made in Chennai. Filled with Jagan's usual -- loads of violence, a wafer-thin story and the regular masala -- the film, of course, is slick. But the screenplay's premise is flimsy and seems forced where Jagan weaves in the elements of gang rivalry and the hero's super image.

May 19, 2008
Positive is confusing
Director V K Prakash's Malayalam film, Positive, could have been a compelling film, as it is written by S N Swamy, the writer famous for his thrillers (especially the CBI series). Besides, being the stylish ad filmmaker-turned-feature film director that he is, you expect a stylish musical from Prakash, as the film is about a music band. But the film is not a murder mystery or a crime thriller or even a musical.

May 16, 2008
Mussanje Maathu will tug at your heartstrings
Mussanje Maathu is an emotional film which is tug at your heartstrings. A good and clean family oriented film with excellent performances and classic music. Sudeep's outstanding performance is well complemented by competent performances of Ramya and Anu Prabhakar.

Not as good as Bommarillu
Although Parugu does not match up to Bommarillu, it is made watchable by the good performances of Prakash Raj and Allu Arjun. A stereotyped storyline is given some good treatment particularly in the first half.

April 28, 2008
Moggina Jade is not impressive
Moggina Jade is a film for those who want to see artistic films. But this is not a patch on Naidu's previous film, Mussanje, a classic. Moggina Jade focuses on the effect that urbanisation and outsourcing cause on the middle class and the creation of a neo-rich culture in cities.

Aramane is worth watching
Lighter moments in the first half and emotionally charged second half - that is the 'Golden Star' Ganesh's new film Aramane directed by actor turned director Nagashekhar. With its simple and straightforward narration, the film strikes an emotional chord with the viewers.

Dasavatharam music is mediocre
Dasavatharam is a good album. But one wonders about the possibilities for such an over-hyped film, starring Kamal Haasan. If only the music was composed by stalwarts like A R Rahman, Vidyasagar, Harris Jairaj, Vishal Bhardwaj or even youngsters like Yuvan Shankar Raja or G V Prakash, who are familiar with the Tamil ethos.

April 25, 2008
Dhaam Dhoom music disappoints
Cinematographer turned director Jeeva's last Tamil film Dhaam Dhoom is indeed a labour of love. Unfortunately, he couldn't finish the film. He met with an untimely death in Russia where he had gone to shoot parts of the film. Jayam Ravi, Kangana Ranaut and Lakshmi Rai are in the lead roles.

April 22, 2008

Watch Annan Thambi for Mammootty

April 14, 2008
Stay far away from De Ingottu Nokkiye
Nothing makes much sense in Balachandra Menon film, De Ingottu Nokkiye. The only thing it does accomplish is to make a mockery of everything.

Innathe Chinthavishayam does not entertain
We were happy when Satyan Anthikad made Rasathantram a couple of years ago, presenting Mohanlal as a carpenter with a golden heart. The film gave us a reason to keep the faith alive in the actor that he is. Two years later, the actor-director duo try to repeat the magic with Innathe Chinthavishayam.

April 04, 2008
Accident , an enjoyable thriller

April 02, 2008
Jalsa , strictly for Pawan Kalyan's fans
First of all, there is no proper storyline and the screen play is totally disjointed making it seem like the director was in two minds while making the film -- one, to have his own brand of comedy which he is famous and two, to showcase Pawan Kalyan's abilities as an action hero.

March 31, 2008
Santhosh...'s music makes you happy
The album comes in a premium pack, which includes a CD, cassette, a booklet, a brief introductory note and complete lyrics of all the tracks -- all of which are a bonus. But more than anything, listening to Santhosh Subramaniyam music really gives 'santhosham'(happiness). Go for it.

Sathya... : Only for Shivraj Kumar fans!
Shivaraj Kumar's brilliance in action and song sequences is certain to please his fans.Genelia looks cute and stylish in the songs. The film is enjoyable in the first half, but slips in the second half with too many confusing turns. Guru Kiran's music and brilliant photography saves this otherwise ordinary film.

March 28, 2008
Mulla disappoints big time
This may be one of Lal Jose's most disappointing films in his decade old career. However, if we see Mulla as a Dileep film, then we can take heart that it is one of his better efforts than July 4 and Calcutta News, and a bit more cohesive than Risikan.

Sandai is illogical
Cinema Paradise's Sandai, starring Sundar C and Nadia, is a complete, illogical and fun entertainer that sells old wine in a new bottle. Just leave logic and reason behind before settling for this age-old mother-in-law/son-in-law battle movies on the lines of Poova Thalaiya and Mappillai.

A dull Inba
Rathnamala Movies' Inba, starring Shaam and Sneha, is just another stale love story that's a yawn-inducing exercise. The only good thing about the film is the flashback part and the performances by Rekha, the villain's wife, young Jyothi, who plays Inba's love interest in school, and the SP.

March 21, 2008

March 14, 2008
An unconnected Vaitheeswaran
Annamalai Productions' Vaitheeswaran, starring Sarathkumar is a re-incarnated dud movie that's as stale as it's washed-out screenplay. Shrikanth Deva's music tries desperately to spice up the proceedings -- but barring the title song, there's no scope for it.

February 18, 2008
Bindaas : Puneet's show all the way
