Karnataka doctor helps 14-feet python to become mother of 18

Incredible as it may sound, a hospital in Mudabidre, in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, besides treating sick patients, is also tending to 18 new-born baby pythons.

Dr Mohan Alva of the hospital, on seeing a 14-feet long pregnant python slithering its way into the hospital premises, created a pit for it to lay eggs.

The python laid 18 eggs and incubated them for 62 days, before they were hatched.

The doctor proposes to wait for a while to see if there were any takers for the baby pythons. Otherwise, he would set them free in the forest.
