Indo-China JWG meet begins tomorrow

The 12th session of the India-China Joint Working Group begins tomorrow.

Foreign secretary Lalit Mansingh leads the Indian side; Yang Wenchang, the Chinese delegation. The team will review recent developments in bilateral elections and exchange views on regional and international issues.

The two countries have also decided to promote confidence-building measures, have a security dialogue and expand trade and economic relations in this, the 50th year of diplomatic relations.

The JWG comes soon after the first Indo-China security dialogue was held in Beijing last month, the sixth meeting of the economic group last February, and the scheduling of President K R Narayanan's visit to China next month.
