Heavy rain raises anxiety

E-Mail this report to a friend

Sadananda R in Chamarajanagar

Tuesday night's heavy downpour around Talamalai forest area has raised Dr Rajakumar's fans' anxiety. How their favourite actor will survive in the forest without any basic facilities is what they are worried about. Of late, Dr Rajakumar had been suffering severe knee pain.

Dr Rajakumar's age is another factor. He is seventy-one. Doubts persist about his ability to face the harsh life, in a tropical forest, with no proper place to stay in.

Veerappan's area spreads over an area of 1000 square kilometers. He shifts base frequently as he is afraid of being encircled. He never enters any village, preferring places that he feels are safe from attack.

His day-time schedule is unpredictable. His earlier hostages say that they used to walk even during the nights. Hence, the doubts about Dr Rajakumar.

In all possibility, Veerappan is moving towards Bandipur National Park. According to the police, Veerappan chose Bandipur because medical help can be availed of if Dr Rajakumar falls ill.

Bandipur is to the north-east of Gajanur from where Dr Rajakumar was abducted. It is 25 km from Talamalai forest, where it is suspected Veerappan is presently hiding.
