Earthquake near India-China border

An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked the Himalayas in the Hindu Kush region today, the Met office said in New Delhi.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the thinly populated region near the India-China border, where the quake was felt.

The quake, with a preliminary magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale, struck at 0412 hours and had its epicentre at 36.4 degree latitude and 77.3 degree longitude, the Met Department said.
