China has built roads along border: Fernandes

National Democratic Alliance convenor and former defence minister George Fernandes on Monday night lamented that India had neglected its border with China.

Fernandes said China has built roads up to the border, while there has been negligence on India's part.

"China has even built roads in such areas where not a single human being lives or even a blade of grass grows," he said.

He added that if India were to build such roads then it will take at least eight to ten years.

He also pointed out that in the next few years a Chinese railway line will also become operational near Tibet.

"China has progressed at a much faster pace than India as the people there are more hardworking and disciplined," the former defence minister said.
