Salman visits police HQ to renew gun licences

Jake Khan in Bombay

Film star Salman Khan visited the police headquarters in Bombay on Thursday afternoon to renew the licences of his firearms -- a hunting rifle and a .32 bore Scott and Wembly revolver.

For Salman, this was the third visit to the police headquarters in the last couple of months. His earlier visits pertained to the controversy surrounding his last release --Chori Chori Chupke Chupke .

Salman was questioned twice by the crime branch officers after the arrest of Bharat Shah and Nazeem Rizvi -- financier and producer respectively of Chori Chori ...

Police suspect that Shah used slush funds to finance the film through Rizvi, believed to be a Dawood man.

A large crowd of photographers and journalists had gathered at the police headquarters on Thursday. Salman, however, spent less than 45 minutes with Deputy Commissioner of Police Sunil Paraskar.

He left without answering any questions from waiting journalists.
