Bhujbal convenes high-level police meeting on Salman case

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has convened a high-level meeting of Mumbai police officials on Monday to examine the case of alleged rash driving by actor Salman Khan on Saturday, which claimed one life.

The actor allegedly rammed his car into a bakery in northwest Mumbai's Bandra area, killing one person and injuring four others.

Salman later surrendered and was subsequently released on bail by the police after furnishing a bond of Rs 950 and a surety.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the World Free Trade Zone Expo 2002 in Mumbai, Bhujbal said it was not a simple accident where a person was mowed down while crossing the road, but a clear case of sheer negligence on part of Salman.

He expressed surprise over the fact that the actor, who had surrendered, was released on bail after a few hours. He said the procedure of granting bail would be reviewed.
