Just four days ahead of Independence Day, the Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have busted a module of Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Tayiba terrorist outfit with the arrest of its two activists along with arms, ammunition and some documents.

Aftab Ahmed alias Tabi alias Bada (38) and Altaf Hussain alias Chhota (25), hailing from Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, were nabbed in Palika Bazar in Connaught Place at around 2200 hours IST on Sunday, Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi District) Manoj Lall told PTI.

A Chinese pistol and seven rounds, a wireless set and some documents were recovered from them, he said.

He said the two were in the capital to establish a base and were arrested following a tip-off.

The two, allegedly involved in a number of terrorist acts in Poonch and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir, had come to Palika Bazar parking to meet an associate, Lall said.

The militants told their interrogators they were on the lookout for a 'suitable hideout' in Delhi so that their other associates could join in later, the DCP said.

After establishing the base, these two were to go to Saudi Arabia from where they could do networking and arrange money for terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere in the country through hawala channels, Lall said.
