Indian comes second at Physics Olympiad

A student from a Mumbai college has come second at the 34th International Physics Olympiad in Taipei, Taiwan, which concluded on Monday.

Yashodhan Kanoria of Ruparel College performed brilliantly at the Olympiad by securing the second highest score in the world, according to a release in Mumbai.

He had also bagged a gold medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad held in Greece in July.

The five-member Indian student team secured two gold and one bronze, placing India in the eighth rank in terms of aggregate team score.

Two students also received honourable mention at the event in which 55 countries participated.

Dr Ravi Bhattacharjee of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College, Delhi, and Dr S C Samanta of Midnapore College led the team.
