A day after bodies of 25 of the 35 people killed in a stampede during Wednesday's shahi snan at the Kumbh Mela in Nashik were identified, the process of identifying remaining bodies is in progress even as several injured pilgrims were allowed to go home after treatment.

"The district authorities are also making efforts to establish contact with relatives of the victims," Civil Surgeon of the Nashik Civil Hospital Dr Ashok Wankhede said on Friday.
In all, 25 bodies were identified on Thursday of which 18 were claimed by relatives. Over 90 injured people were being treated at the Nashik Civil Hospital and eight at the Nashik Municipal Hospital. Many injured pilgrims were allowed to go home after treatment and there are no seriously injured persons in the hospital, Wankhede said.
In a separate incident on Thursday, Shivramprasad Matmunna Bhagwat Tiwari (65) from Uttar Pradesh, died of suffocation while trying to board a state road transport bus at Nashik Road, police said on Friday.
Meanwhile, several complaints of missing persons have been lodged at different police posts in Nashik, Nashik Road and the railway station, police said.
