More than a dozen arrests are likely in the fake stamp paper scam, the team probing the case in Karnataka said on Monday.

Additional Director General of Police R Sri Kumar, who is heading the fake stamp paper investigation team (STAMPIT), said in Bangalore that 54 of the 70 accused have been arrested.

He said the remaining arrests are likely in the next one to one-and-half months, after which "95 per cent of the investigation will be over".

Sri Kumar said STAMPIT, constituted by the Karnataka government two years ago after the scam was uncovered, continues to probe the alleged role of politicians and police officers in the scandal.

He said 11 charge sheets have already been filed and more are likely.

The Karnataka high court, following a request made by the state government, recently announced establishment of a special court headed by Judge A T Manoli to try the stamp cases.
