Former Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha's reported description of Chief Minister Rabri Devi as a 'dumb woman' has landed the outspoken police officer in further trouble.
Taking strong exception to the reported comments, the Bihar Commission for Women decided to issue summons to Ojha.
"Ojha's remarks about the chief minister amount to denigrating the dignity of a woman and the Commission has decided to issue summons to him tomorrow seeking his personal appearance before the Commission," its chairperson Manju Prakash told reporters.
Prakash said she had a talk with Rabri Devi and the latter was very upset over Ojha's 'insulting remarks' and asked the Commission to do whatever it considered fit.
Replying to a question what the Commission would do if Ojha refused to heed to its summons, she said the Commission had the power of a district court and it would act against the ousted DGP according to the laws.
Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav had earlier in the day termed Ojha's remark published is a local Hindi daily as 'insulting' and said the state government would initiate action against the cop.
When contacted, Ojha denied describing Rabri Devi as a 'dumb woman' and said such reports had no basis and were part of a conspiracy against him.
"I respect Rabri Devi as a woman, and there is no question of me speaking anything personal against her," he said.
Ojha also has denied Laloo's allegation that he was serving the interests of Ranvir Sena, a private militia of landlords.
"I have no links with Ranvir Sena. Such allegations are baseless and out of vendetta," he said. "Laloo is behaving like a jester."
