Six students, including three girls, of the Darbhanga Dental College on Wednesday tried to commit suicide in Patna by consuming sedatives to protest against the delay in the publication of their results.
They were admitted to the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
Sources in the hospital told rediff.com on Thursday that three of them are in critical condition.
In their suicide note they said they wanted to draw the attention of the Bihar government, the Dental Council of India and the Patna high court towards the injustice being meted out to them.
Their names are Taseem, Maimmona, Sultana, Masud Nazaki, Pervez Ahmad (all from Jammu and Kashmir) and Kamal Sen Gupta (Kolkata).
Over two-dozen students of the college have been in Patna for a week in connection with their complaints. Early this week they washed cars and polished shoes to draw attention to their plight.
The incident of attempted suicide was raised in the state assembly on Thursday.
Members cutting across party line expressed serious concern and urged the government to resolve the students' demands.
