Bharatiya Janata Party leader Satnarayan Singh Yadav was allegedly killed in Khagaul near Patna by Rashtriya Janata Dal supporters, who were going for the Laloo-sponsored lathi rally in the Bihar capital on Wednesday.
Following the killing a BJP central fact finding team led by party general secretary and spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi visited Khagaul and met family members of the deceased. Naqvi told newspersons that he will request the central government for a CBI probe. Several Union ministers from Bihar accompanied Naqvi.
In protest against the killing the BJP also called for a Khagaul bandh. The bandh is reported to be total with all the business establishments and shops downing shutters. Tension, however, prevailed in the town with large number of security personnel deployed.
But giving a different spin to the killing, RJD chief Laloo Prasad Yadav charged BJP state president Nand Kishore Yadav and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, who were critics of Yadav, with hatching a conspiracy to murder him. The Bihar strongman also indicated that cases might be filed against Nand Kishore Yadav and Modi. He also claimed that the slain BJP leader was chargesheeted in nine murder cases.
"Merely by getting a ticket for election, one does not become a political leader," Laloo said.
