With Dr Ramesh Chandra still in the custody of abductors, the Bihar unit of the Indian Medical Association has called a meeting of its representatives from across the state to discuss strategy for the proposed indefinite strike from Wednesday.
Intense raids were conducted throughout Monday night in Patna, Nalanda and Jehanabad districts to locate the doctor, Director General of Police D P Ojha said in Patna on Tuesday.
He expressed confidence that something positive would emerge 'very soon'.
IMA general secretary Dr Shahjanand Singh said the doctors were determined to go on strike if Dr Chandra was not rescued by Wednesday.
"We have given enough time to the government to trace Dr Chandra " he said.
Meanwhile, the opposition has called for a Patna bandh on Wednesday to protest against the increase in abductions.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has appealed to the people to make the strike a success.
The Samata Party said it would launch an awareness programme in support of the doctors' cause.
The Rotary Clubs in Patna will also hold a protest march to Chief Minister Rabri Devi's official residence.
