Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday released a book -- Delhi - The Emperor's City -- authored by Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel.

Amongst those present at the function at Ashok Hotel, New Delhi, were Deputy PM Lal Kishenchand Advani and other Cabinet ministers.

"Many centuries have been captured in this beautiful book. Each picture brings alive the golden past of Delhi, and particularly Chandni Chowk. Some people asked me since when Vijay Goel has become an author. I told them this man has the capacity of springing surprises. Wait and watch, next you will see him as a painter," Vajpayee said amidst laughter from the audience.

"This book will make a place for itself in literary circles, I have no doubt about it," he said.

Advani complimented Goel, member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, for bringing out the book. "I have been through the book. It is wonderful," he said.

Goel dedicated the book to Vajpayee.

"Vajpayeeji has been inspiring me since my childhood," he said.

Noted danseuse Shovna Narayanan performed with her troupe on the occasion. Noted theatre and film personality Aamir Raza had designed the sets.
